Domain Name Rental or Buy a Domain Name

May I suggest you read my article "location-location-location" first, this will help you decide between leasing a higher quality Domain Name with an option to purchase later, or buying a lower quality domain name now.

LEASE or LEASE to OWN a DOMAIN NAME

When you lease a domain name from TLD you pay a monthly fee (E.g. from as little as $30) with an automatic payment for a predetermined length of time. You can also have an agreement in place to purchase the domain name when the lease contract is up for renewal at a pre-agreed price, this is "Lease to Own". This option gives you the ability to test drive your business model and also have access to a premium domain name, without the up- front outlay. It also means that you block your competition from securing prime real estate which would make it harder for you to gain market share.

RENT a DEVELOPED DOMAIN NAME

When you rent a developed domain name from TLD you pay a monthly fee for a fully developed and Search Engine Optimised - SEO' d website (E.g. from as little as $30) with an automatic payment for a predetermined length of time (up to 5 years). You can also have an agreement in place to renew the contract with caps on rental increases. As a general rule rented "Developed Domain Names" are not for sale as they form part of the TLD Internet property portfolio. These websites capture the traffic and direct it to your current company website. This can be done with several developed sites, to maximise your chances of capturing your clients before your competition does. Using several optimised sites all directed at your main website creates a capture net, it's a bit like opening up stores in several malls in the same city. On the Internet you can cover the whole of New Zealand or even the World if you so choose! One example of this is if you are a florist in say Hastings you could rent a developed website like this one: FloristsHastings.co.nz and likewise if you have a flower shop in Napier and need a florist website then this would suit FloristsNapier.co.nz. We can also build a site for you to rent from us if it is not already developed.

TLD always try to accommodate our clients requirements and will customise contracts to suit mutually agreed terms.
