Play.ca sells at auction
28 June 2010

Domain extensions other than .com are making headway into the high priced domain names sales. Where it used to be a .com you wanted no matter where your business was located, it now has shifted to having the TLD or Top Level Domain of the country the business is situated in. This is especially true now with Google focusing on location and geographical importance. When in New Zealand you want a .co.nz and when in Australia you want a .com.au and so on. A resent example of this was when the domain name "Play" went up for auction in the Canadian TLD extension - Play.ca sold for US34,000.  This is just one example and you will find many like it in Domain Name Investment forums and blogs.
